HEMET — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL REPORT. Hemet’s Economic Development office published an August 4–18, 2026 Kitchen Grant application round with anticipated project awards of up to $100,000.

What the assistance was for

The city designed the Kitchen Grant to support new and expanding culinary businesses building restaurant kitchen facilities. Applicants were expected to show a 20% matching financial commitment.

An expired deadline matters

The posted August application period ended on August 18, 2026. Residents and prospective restaurants should not submit an application as though the round remains open; future rounds need a separate official announcement.

Some fees have different treatment

Hemet’s guidelines describe certain city planning and building permit fee exemptions for successful program participants, but not fees required by the state or outside agencies. Check the adopted grant agreement before spending money in anticipation of reimbursement.
